Rachel and Evan took a long and twisty road to get here.

Married at the start of August, it wasn’t always clear that their wedding would be able to move forward. After a whirlwind summer, things were finally able to move forward – even if a bit altered.

But their original wedding photographer, Cacie of Cacie Carroll Photography, was based in Canada – and hasn’t been able to touch U.S. soil in months. At the time of the wedding, that was still true.

So Cacie sent Morgan Manney Photography and myself to photograph the day exactly as she would have. What started as a slightly hectic normal wedding, very quickly delved into the personal tales, wins, losses and experiences of Rachel and Evan – something that’s so meaningful to see at every couple’s wedding. Some of my favorite images are Rachel and Evan giving speeches and hearing speeches in return – you can tell that Rachel had this incredible moment of release, where everything that it took to get there finally hits her. That’s what documentary work is for – to tap into the true feeling of that moment, and put it on paper.
