It was a beautiful fall day in downtown. The air was crisp and fresh, the sun was warm, it couldn’t have been a better fall day.
Jarod + Taryn wanted an event that looked and felt like them, all while hosting their people in the best way possible. Nicollet Island Inn offered a number of options to fit their needs: a beautiful outdoor ceremony garden, different indoor spaces for social hours, dinner, and dancing. The couple decided to share their vows privately on the Nicollet Island bridge. It was a sweet moment, just for them (and a few passersby).
After the vows, the ceremony took place in a lovely outdoor garden. The space felt intimate. Friends and family gathered to witness their love. There was a sense of joy in the air. Laughter mixed with happy tears.
The reception was filled with warmth and connection. The couple wanted to capture the day in a genuine way. They placed disposable cameras on each table. Guests had fun snapping candid shots of everybody around them. Using disposable cameras often leads to some of the favorite photographs of the night, and I have no doubt they loved the results.
Throughout the day, my goal was to witness things only as they happened, with no direction or interference. I focused on the little things: the smiles, the hugs, and the quiet glances. Each moment is part of their story, big and small.
This wedding was about love and togetherness. It was a simple affair, yet deeply meaningful. By the end of the night, it was clear how much they cherished each other and everyone around them. And the dances they shared with their parents had everybody in tears!
The memory of this day will live on, not just in photos, but in the hearts of those who were there. It’s about the connections we make and the love we share. This is what weddings are all about.
Bonus: can you spot all the film photos? My own film cameras in hand, I had the pleasure of utilizing my favorite medium throughout their event. Specializing in documentary and analog film coverage is one of my favorite things.
