DOCUMENTARY ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER | CITY HALL ELOPEMENT MINNEAPOLIS | CANDID PHOTOGRAPHER MINNEAPOLIS
March is always a special month in Minnesota. We start out with the frigid and cold winter, and by the end, we’re warm and filled with the hope of spring. For Mackenzie and Benji, it marked their 9 year anniversary – and their plans to elope on that exact date.
The couple was set to tie the knot at city hall, a venue adorned with timeless architecture and the most gorgeous white marble detailing. Beforehand, they took time to get ready together, alongside their family (and animal companions as well!)
As I arrived, I honed in on exactly what mattered – the people. The relationships. The things I always come back to time and time again as the center of documentary work. my focus shifted entirely. My goal was intimacy over spectacle; being present rather than orchestrating.
After the ceremony, the elation grew; it spilled over as family and friends gathered to celebrate at Sweeney’s, a cozy local bar. The warm laughter and clinking glasses fused beautifully with the vibrant chatter. Capturing the energy in that intimate space was simple and easy as everybody was so delighted to be together.
The day was filled with simple joys. It was a reminder that love doesn’t need grand gestures: instead, it thrives in everyday moments. The photographs reflect that honesty.
