GATHERED OAKS WEDDING | ALEXANDRIA MN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

I wasn’t quite prepared for what I walked into with Debbie and Shane.
Of course, they chose a gorgeous venue and everything this day went off without a hitch. But while Debbie and Shane had an incredible focus on the people around them, stories starting coming out slowly the longer you listened.

Debbie, who could not possibly be more excited, was more than thrilled to tell people that she locked Shane down and spoke of him like he was the best thing to ever happen in her life. Debbie’s mom, who wasn’t expected to be present today from a cancer diagnosis, was more present than anybody else in the room – tears after tears and hugs from her friends that celebrated with her today. Debbie’s dad was a pure ray of sunshine in all of the moments that he got to speak of Debbie and Shane’s relationship, as well as see her so, so happy. Some of my favorite images from this day really are centered around the parents (see, the image of her mom hugging her friends, or her dad losing his shit as he walked her down the aisle).

There are so many more complex stories that I still don’t know, happening in these images. All I know is I’m thankful for Emily of Emily Alexander Photography asking me to come along, and getting to tell this side of the story in a real photojournalistic way. I couldn’t be more excited for Debbie and Shane.
