Imagine a serene shore of Lake Superior, the gentle lapping of waves against the rocks, the sun slowly setting in the distance, casting a warm glow over the water. Now picture a couple, Anna and Siri, standing on a log with their closest family and friends, sharing deeply personal vows under the open sky.

I am not interested in staged, posed photos. I want to document what honestly happens. And this weekend celebrating Anna and Siri was that and only that.

They shared a musical performance, pouring their hearts and souls into each note. They stood on that log, vulnerable and exposed, yet surrounded by so much love and support. As they exchanged vows, I could feel the love and commitment radiating from them. And the tears may have hinted at that.

During the ceremony, there was a quiet, meditative moment as they looked out at the lake, reflecting on the significance of this day. And then, the joy and excitement of their friends and family as they lined up to congratulate the newlyweds.

And finally, as dark descended, Anna and Siri, along with a few adventurous participants, jumped into the lake, laughing and splashing in the cold North Shore water. It was a moment of pure joy and freedom, a celebration of love and life.

These are the moments I live for as a photographer – the simple, honest, everyday moments that speak volumes about the human experience.
