THE OLDENBURG HOUSE WEDDING | ITALIAN WEDDING | BED AND BREAKFAST WEDDING | DULUTH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Charlotte and Danny were a perfect match for wedding photojournalism.
They knew that above all else, they wanted to be with their people. That they wanted a laid-back day where much of what they decided to do was chosen in the moment. They didn’t want to get caught up in the Business of Weddings, but rather to truly be able to celebrate this day.
Charlotte and Danny came to me with only 3 “posed” photographs they wanted (and we hardly even posed them). We spent approximately 30 seconds doing portraits of the two of them. Everything else was as it unfolded before me.
Being given the ability to focus on what was happening over creating photographs gave me the ability to focus on the venue and the people. The Oldenburg House is an absolutely gorgeous wedding venue. There’s little pockets of light everywhere, and incredible architecture, and subdued colors. Being able to use the lines helped to create images all day long.
Oh, then of course there’s the tented reception and every detail put into place there.
Moments to look for in the blog post below?
Petting all the dogs all the time. Face-timing Aunt Jane. A blurry excited first look. Spying on guests from the sunroom. Ringing the gong to start the ceremony (and again for the reception). Dogs walking down the aisle. Almost forgetting to put on Danny’s ring. The sweetest cheek first kisses. Tent sunlight as they enter their reception. Showing off the rings. A gorgeous end to the first dance. A tarantella that shoot the tent. And more. So much more.

This wedding wouldn’t have been possible without the entire incredible team. Thanks to Mary Carlson of Pure Event Planning, for being a casual bad-ass. The ladies of Saffron and Grey for the gorgeous floral installations. Mid Coast Catering and Northern Waters Smokehaus for keeping everyone in good spirits. Doucette’s Party for keeping us sheltered from the wind. And of course, Emily of Oldenburg House for making sure everything was as perfect as could be. And to my assistant Cece for being everywhere I couldn’t.
